PROJECT SR: Shaving The Frame and Color Studies

Work on the SR has been steady. We stripped the frame down and I had the chance last weekend to start doing some shaving. The goal is to be minimal, so pretty much every tab that wasn't structural came off. Wiring and electronics will be tucked away in various places.

I ran through dozens of color variations with Kara until we had a table full to look over. In the design world, this is called a print off. It's much easier to compare images when everything is splayed out in front of you, rather then toggling back and forth on the computer. This also allows you to draw and make notes.

After a good 30 minutes of review we had the lot chopped down to 4 colorways. One of them stood out more then the rest. I'll let that direction unfold as the project progresses, but we're very excited about the chosen setup.

I usually use a mixture of Photoshop and Corel Painter.

  2. You're beginning to be one of my favorite custom motorcycle designers. You actually have inspired me to get my first bike! How do you like your cx500? How does it handle? How is the weight? Please, anything you can tell will be greatly appreciated.
