Bullitt Helmet Concept
Chad Hodge
Chad, via BubbleVisor:
"I am a recent graduate of the industrial design program at the
University of Cincinnati and for my thesis I designed a retro full face
helmet. The idea came about when I went to purchase a new full face
helmet and I couldnt find anything that wasnt styled to look like it
belonged with a crotch rocket. I ride a 1978 Yamaha XS1100 and wanted
something that would at least attempt to match that aesthetic. There are
plenty of vintage half helmets out there, but after a buddy got his
face saved by his full face, I dont wear anything but. Its currently
just a show model, but I am interested in trying to get it prototyped."
At the moment this is just a prototype concept. If you'd like to help Chad (and the rest of us looking for a good looking full face) you can get his contact info by e-mailing Lennard from BubbleVisor here: info@lennardschuurmans.com

ReplyDeleteIf you know this guy, you should tell him to get a kickstarter project going for this!
I'd certainly contribute!
That's a very good idea.
DeleteI would actually contribute to that. Such a rad idea, and from a UC grad at that.
DeleteVery nice staff. Good work.
ReplyDeleteI'm just wondering what the buttons on the front are for, as the visor seems to be locked elsewhere.
The other issue is that the helmet looks very narrow, which is obviously cool, but I'm afraid that such a shape will be hardly in line with ECE requirements...
And there are already so many American helmets that cannot be worn in Europe because not approved...
I believe those are air vents, not buttons.
DeleteThe Bullitt says, "Bullitt approved!" I need one!!!
ReplyDeleteIf you build it, they will come...or something like that. I know I'D buy one! I agree, there are a lot of open-face retro helmets out there, but with the idiots on the roads of SC, I'd like something to protect my pie-hole a bit better. Let's face it (no pun intended), it's not US at fault for most motorcycle accidents, it's the idiots in cars. I'll take "being able to eat and speak" over "looks cool" any day.
ReplyDeleteStart a Kickstarter. I think you could get some interest.
I'd buy this in hearbeat!
ReplyDeleteI'd buy this too. Heck, I'd throw in some seed money to help get the company started. And I'm in Clifton near Univ. of Cinti. Dude, let's talk about making this real. Cincinnati Cafe Racer dot com
ReplyDeleteThis reminds be of the beautiful craftsmanship with a bit more old school of the Ruby helmets. Hopefully not nearly as much. a), I would totally contribute being a past Industrial Design student, b), to help fund this into production and c), get my hands all over one!
ReplyDeleteIt's a lovely looking piece, and a nice departure from the garden-variety, sportsbike, full-face helmets in the shops today, I would love to own such a helmet.
